Bishop O'Byrne High School opened its doors in September of 2001. Focused on providing a Catholic Academic Education to the students, Bishop O'Byrne High School has grown substantially over the past few years to a population of over 1,800 students. Additional programs have been added, including a Sports Performance Hockey Program and Grade 10 Honours/International Baccalaureate Program.
Centennial High School teaches Grades 10 to 12. The school's name was chosen as a reference to the 100th birthday of the province of Alberta in 2005, as the construction of the school was finished that year. Centennial High School is part of the Action for Bright Children Society.
Janet Johnstone School is located in the southwest community of Shawnessy, serving the communities of Shawnessy, Millrise, Shawnee Slopes and Shawnee Park (English). Students from the communities of Shawnessy, Millrise, Shawnee Slopes, Shawnee Park, Bridlewood, Somerset, Evergreen and Silverado attend our French Immersion program.
Blessed Mother Teresa School is a French Immersion Catholic Elementary school with entry points at Kindergarten and Grade 1. All subjects are taught in French, except Religion and English Language Arts. In addition to core curriculum programming mandated by Alberta Education, the school is pleased to offer its students a variety of supplementary courses, options and services in collaboration with our many community partners.
Our Lady of Peace School is one of the largest elementary/junior high schools in the Calgary Catholic School District, with a current registration of over 600 students. The school offers a well-rounded, faith-based education in a caring, inclusive and nurturing community to meet each student’s unique needs.
The school is named after a remarkable Calgarian for whom the area of Shawnessy, Shawnee Slopes, Shawnee Park and Shaw Meadows in Fish Creek Park was named. His mill was located in Fish Creek Park. He was an innovator in Calgary having created the first phone line from his store in Midnapore to one in downtown Calgary. His pioneering spirit and innovation is a great example for learning and working together at Samuel W. Shaw School.
St. Matthew is a Catholic school located in the community of Acadia in the southeast of Calgary. The school offers kindergarten to Grade 9 English, Late and Early French Immersion, Gr. 7-9 and ESII elementary and junior high. The core purpose of the staff of St. Matthew School is to empower each student to become a positive and productive decision maker by providing an education that promotes life-long learning.
